The engine code is printed on a sticker which can usually be found on the rocker cover or timing belt cover. Since the exact same bottom end (short block) is used on multiple Ford models (which alle have different engine codes) the engine code is not casted info the engine block. The outside of the cover does not get hot. You will probably have no fitting problems with a Focus, for which the cover was intended - Ford just stopped fitting it to the Mk 3.5, presumably as a cost saving measure.

Main bearing bolts: 45 Nm + 90°. Cylinders 1-3: 2nd stage - 30 Nm + 90°, 3rd stage - 80 Nm + 180°. Cylinder 4: 2nd stage - 25 Nm + 90°, 3rd stage - 60 Nm + 180°. Use a torque wrench to ensure that the bolts are tightened to the correct torque. Tighten the bolts in a star pattern, working your way from the center out.
