The Aston Martin Vanquish is a grand tourer introduced by British luxury automobile manufacturer Aston Martin in 2001 as a successor to the Aston Martin Vantage (1993). The Aston Martin V12 Vanquish, designed by Ian Callum and unveiled at the 2001 Geneva Motor Show , was produced from 2001 to 2007 as the flagship of the marque.
With a turn of the key, the triple-carb, four-liter straight-six engine burbles to life and settles into a rich, bassy beat. The 282 hp DB5 was a respectable performer in its day, though zero-to Aston Martin eventually produced 12 shooting brake versions of the DB5. This one, which ended up in Switzerland as a daily driver, is one of only four built in left-hand-drive form. Subsequent owners performed two specialist restorations on the car. Bond was initially let down when his Bentley 3.5-liter (seen in From Russia With Love) was replaced by the DB5, but after his outings in Goldfinger and Thunderball (1964 & 65), his mind was permanently changed, and the Aston Martin developed a bigger cult status than any other prop in the 007 franchise.
