My bro picked up a 2.0 TDCi Titanium Mondeo this morning, we had a little play down a closed private road and the Focus just had the edge lol was well pleased. Mind you when the mondy has had a service and a drink of optimax and miller's it might be a different story but there was nowt in it :)

I agree with hotfocus that replacing the filter sooner than recommended is good preventative maintenance. My '04 Owner's Manual shows 30,000 miles as the scheduled service interval for replacing the fuel filter. However, under "Special Operating Conditions", the fuel filter replacement interval is 15,000 miles. 2) Dusty conditions.

Posted January 29, 2014. I have just had the DPF fluid topped up at Ford and a forced regeneration carried out. No problems with that. However they state there is a further fault showing (and hence the engine malfunction light is still on) that states that the DPF fluid tank needs replacing at a cost of over £500!

Getting the air out of the system can be a pig. A good priming bulb fitted in the fuel line before the fuel filter is one way. Undo the air vent on the filter, and pump until fuel come out, do up the vent, then pump hard for some time. Start the engine with the primer still in line. Keep pumping if it stops.
Focus 1.6 TDCi common problems. This diesel engine (it stands for turbdodiesel common rail injection) can have DPF issues (diesel particulate filter). Symptoms of a clogged DPF include engine oil contaminated with fuel and a rise in engine speed. In most cases, the DPF and additive have not been renewed at the scheduled time.
